12:26:54 PM Hello...Bb at clinic...Bb pregnant..Just six words, and everything goes numb for the next 5 seconds...
bliss, disbelief, joy, numb..joy..wahahahhahahahahaaa!!!!
me: mmm, so how long ago... (running mental calculations..)
bb: doctor says it's already five weeks, so expected due 22 november
(scorpio!! wahahahhaaa!!! just like me!!)
me: oh ok (play it cool, play it cool). ok. so take the rest of the day off and go back early ya.
bb: ok. going back now. see you at home later.
me: ok. love you
bb. love you too.
Yessss!!!!! i'm a straight shooter!! forgive me for indulging on some male pride here but, to be honest i was a tad bit worried, with age, and if bad habits side-effects and all might be catching up over these years. foooohh!!! so what next? tell the world! all clan arsha should know this! a round of sms to everyone that afternoon and each time a reply came, couldn't help smiling. Alhamdulillah ya Rahman, ya Rahim!
so what to do next the whole afternoon? forget work mates, insyaAllah i'm going to be a father for the 1st time soon! so digging in and do some research, print out the whole week by week pregnancy guide, supplement, tips, exercises to do, food to take, the whole works!
after much digging in a gist at week 5:
1. the baby is about the size of a lentil bean :) ahhem, 6-8mm
2. tissues are forming the heart
3. the brain is forming and dividing into 3 parts
4. the spine is in the earliest development. taking folic acid will aid the spine's development and will prevent neutral tube defects
so things to do:
1. go celebrate 1st :) take bb to have dinner of her choice
2. get a proper medical checkup at hospital of choice tomorrow
3. healthy diet plan
4. get her to rest early starting tonight
5. read more.. supplements, what not to eat, etc..
26th March: Attended the Mawlid by AlHabib Munzir Bin Fuad Al Musawa. Alhamdulillah. Alhamdulillah. Each time attended the mawlid of either AlHabib Umar and Alhabib Munzir, Allah has granted His blessings generously. I am happy that baby is already able to feel & hear recitals & prayers to Allah & Prophet Mohammed s.a.w. at this early stage
28 March 2011 : First Hospital Checkup
1st picture 28 march 2011
Went to first checkup at the hospital. Baby got first official picture taken. This will go to the baby scrapbook all the way till birth. But.. the hospital visit was a letdown. The doctor was late. And she's also non responsive, routine question, scan and "ok, next visit will be 25 April, thank you.." Hello? first time here you know? you could at least give some advise on diet, supplements, tips, whatever? and she didn't even glance at me once, as if i didn't exist or that i shouldn't be in the room at all. husband right? father to be? i'd appreciate it you could at least turn your stiff neck and says would you like to take a look at the scan, then explain what i'm seeing? i do expect better from a private hospital. it's alright then, still have time so we'll go to another hospital then.
4th April 2011
A.D. (younger brother) came by for a smoke session. He's just had his firstborn last month :) Shared with me a tips, go for checkups at the government pregnancy clinic and only go and register at hospital of choice later. This way, when the baby has been born, the govt matrons from the clinic will come by for house visits as well to checkup on both mother and baby. Plus it's recommended to have all the necessary shots from the govt clinics as the medications are safer and backed by the govt. Good advice that. And i told him to get gripe water from the pharmacy for his baby girl for wind and such. It works, and it's better than rubbing those hot ointments on the baby as it could be too hot for the baby and there's no way the baby can tell you that.Noon-ish, me and bb went out to the pharmacy to get supplement. found out that blackmores have a formulated pregnancy supplement with all the necessary vitamins, nutrients. cool. makes it easier than having to swallow a couple of pills when you have everything in one. BUT, doctor's advice is to take this only after the 1st trimester. For now starting on Anmum Materna as well to get a healthy growth (was adviced to stop taking this after 6-7th months so the baby won't be too big to come out)
This week tentatively we are on the 7th weeks during the 1st trimester. So far so good, alhamdulillah. A little bit of mood swings happening (hormone change?), but it's to be expected. No morning sickness (yet), but we still have 7 more weeks to go for the 1st trimester. Progress for this week at week 7:
1; small heart is starting to pump blood circulating the body (not beating yet, heart is still forming)
2; more facial development : mouth & tongue are forming
3; nose at the early stage (mancung macam daddy can ahh? insyaAllah)
4; baby's eye bud's are becoming for distinct
i wish i have the sonogram scanner at home so i can take weekly pictures inside :) but doing weekly sonar might not be a good thing so, ok-lah, have to be patient. Continue with good diets, so this week will add carrots, cucumber, oranges on top of the normal food intake for skin and avoid stretch marks. Also mummy have to take lots of water to avoid urinary tract infections as the growing uterus is putting pressure on the bladder for frequent bathroom visit.
doing some online look-see, look-see on baby products :) clothes, accessories, strollers etc
Week 8, 14 April 2011:
second checkup. went to the government clinic to have on record. this will make it easier after the birth as already have records with the clinic for all the necessary shots. Always get the baby shots at government clinics as the medications are guaranteed. The matron was good, friendly, gave advice and tips, did all the necessary blood test, HIV, sugar, VDRL, etc. And it's free! not that money is the issue but they treat us better than the first visit at the so-called private class hospital that charges indecently for nothing. Everything is well, alhamdulillah. No scanner though as we went to the clinic and not the hospital. It's alright, will get the scan after this on the 3rd checkup.
Week 9:
so far so good, Alhamdulillah. A little bit of craving, but thankfully nothing exotics :) all easily find, nearby and not at odd hours, haha. no morning sickness for both of us. only mummy tend to get easily tired and wants to sleep a lot. OG says that's a sign going to be a boy. Boy or girl are both blessings, maybe twins? haha
Mummy continues with the milk and folic acid. In addition, takes oranges for natural Vit C, Yogurt and Vitagen, Veggies esp. broccoli for all them necessary nutrients. Me have to smoke out of the house, :)
Week 10:
Shopping spree! Mummy needs new clothes. Book a room at a hotel in front of the malls so that don't have to rush around, spend the whole of saturday and following sunday shopping. New maternity dresses/shirts, maternity pants/jeans/blouse, scholl comfy shoes & sandal, the works. Daddy wants shopping too, before baby comes, so bought shirt, ps3+gadget+stockup 20 games, big sling bag for clothes & sling bag for work, shoe, ahahaha. But no worries, have already set aside in account for baby's arrival. That's done first before anything else.
Will buy baby's stuff from next month. Yeay! though clothes may have to wait a bit after can see baby's gender first. Mummy still fine, though there are the occasional mood swings. But all good.
Week 11:
a bit topsy turvy mood swing for mummy. starting to get a bit uncomfortable so bought for mummy Naforye full body pillow. Hope mummy can sleep better :)
Also, install an AC at the bedroom. Not really a fan for AC, but it's getting hot nowadays plus wanted to get an Ioniser anyway to clean the air for mummy and baby, and the AC have Ioniser, purifier and can cool too :)
Week 12: 7 May 2011. 3rd Checkup & Baby Second Picture
baby second picture
3rd checkup at choice of hospital for delivery. Great doctor. friendly, gave advices, tips, ask a lot of questions, took the time to scan and showed/explained both of us what we're seeing. Saw baby's heart beating so fast! Can see the head, arms, legs & body already formed. What a miracle! Subhanallah! From the first picture and now almost fully formed! baby can hear already at this stage, so have to be careful what we say around baby :) let's have baby hear AlQuran recitals, mummy's voice talking. Daddy wants to put earphone to tummy and let baby listens to Iron Maiden! but mummy says cannot, hahahhahaa. See above? the yellow circle is the heart! Doctor says next time bring a DVD so we can record the scan live! Coool!! Great treatment so far. So next doctor gave 3 supplements to continue next 30 days:
calcium for bones formation, folic for muscle development and neurogain for brain & eyesight :)
just 1 more week for first trimester to be over and into 2nd trimester. Yeay! Alhamdulillah.
Week 13:
Everything going well. Now adding Kiwi fruit to the diet, as kiwi fruit have more vitamins than apple or oranges combined. Also getting mummy to take granola bars in the morning for fibre as well as build baby's tolerance to nuts and berries. Sometimes kids can grow up to be allergic to nuts, so getting mummy to eat during pregnancy hopefully will build tolerance for the baby. Mummy's getting more active again, tummy rounder :) no additional cravings, but mummy now likes to have yogurt drink/solids everyday to sustain whenever she has hunger pangs, so stock up the fridge for her. Vitagen also to always maintain stomach acidity at minimum level. Maybe this is why she's not getting any morning sickness? Wallahuallam.
Week 14, 2nd Trimester!!
Shifted to a new place. Mummy getting tired of climbing the stairs, so make a decision to move back to the condo as it has lifts. Of course i ended up doing all the shifting & heavy lifting, but sorted everything out in a week time, more or less. the house decorating, add-ons, paint job have to take it up slowly lah day by day as gotta take care of work too.
"This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb."
Miracle on the way :)
Week 15, 2nd Trimester!!
Mummy ok. Back on her feet, active, but still wants her to have enough rest. Mummy says she can feel baby moving sometimes, especially when she's busy, then she'll stop when she feels baby inside, just to remind mummy to take a break and not neglect baby inside. Can't take spicy/hot food 'cause baby already have taste buds and when she does, surely she'll feel baby a bit "active". so mild food, if tummy too hot, not good for baby inside. Baby can sense light at this stage. Apparently if shine a flashlight at the tummy, baby's likely to move away from the beam. Tried it once, mummy says it works, can feel baby moving inside :)
The 3 supplements about to ran out, but good news is that local pharmacy VITACARE carries all 3 supplements.
Week 16, 2nd Trimester!!
Baby 3rd picture :) MasyaAllah, Amazing!
Time for monthly checkup. Doctor says everything proceeding as normal, Alhamdulillah. Scan again, Can see baby's form now, legs, hands, spine, head, forms of the eyes, nose & mouth. Can see the heart beating as before, slightly bigger. comparing the scan from last month to now, awesome!, can't see baby's gender yet, hhaahaha, baby shy. So planning a 3d scan next month and doctor says should be able to see by then. Can't wait :) Start buying thing for mummy & baby, every month from now must buy items for both to prepare. For now, bought for Mummy breastpump and bottle for baby. Preparing checklist for monthly items to purchase now: washtub, diapers, baby cot, stroller, clothes etc..
Now also is the best time to start registering for maternity lamaz classes, get to know and do best execises to do from now till D-Day :)
